    (382 BC-October 336 BC)
Born in Pella, Macedon (located in modern Greece)
    King of Macedon (359-336 BC)
Conquered Thrace and most of Greece
Assassinated at the wedding of his daughter Cleopatra
Assassinated on the eve of a planned invasion of the Persian Empire
    Father of Alexander the Great
    He was married seven times.
He would ally with one Greek city-state to conquer a second one, then backstab the first.
He was showing his approachability by walking without his bodyguards around him when he was assassinated.
He had enough enemies that historians are unsure who was behind his assassination (since his bodyguards killed his assassin before the man had a chance to speak).
During his youth, he was held in Thebes as a hostage.
While there, he studied Greek literature, philosophy and military tactics.
He lost an eye during the siege of Methone (354 BC).
He raised Macedon from a backwater to the dominant power in the Balkans.
