Assassin (Failed)

The Resume

    (June 12, 1835-July 7, 1865)
    Born in Dorna, Germany
Immigrated to the US in 1844
    Resided in Port Tobacco, Maryland
Participant with John Wilkes Booth in the plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln
Assigned the task of assassinating Vice President Andrew Johnson

Why he might be annoying:

Despite living in the US since childhood, he never became an American citizen.
During the Civil War, he ferried Confederates across the Potomac River.
His original role in the conspiracy was to smuggle a kidnapped Lincoln to Virginia.
His lawyer’s defense was that Atzerodt was such a coward, Booth would never have asked him to kill anyone.

Why he might not be annoying:

He spent the time he was supposed to be assassinating Johnson drinking in a hotel bar.
Incriminating evidence found in his hotel room may have been planted by Booth.
His last words before his execution were, 'Good-bye gentlemen. May we all meet in the other world.'
