Why he might be annoying:

Despite being Jewish he caved into pressure to make Nazi propaganda films.
He was offered a chance to go to Hollywood but decided to stay in Germany, a decision which eventually cost him his life.

Why he might not be annoying:

He ran a cabaret which kept other inmates entertained while imprisoned at Theresienstadt prison camp.
He was eventually transported to Auschwitz were he was killed on arrival.
He acted with Marlene Dietrich in the film that made her a star.
