    (April 17, 1971- )
    Born in Annandale, Virginia
Birth name was Abilio James Acosta
    White House correspondent for CNN
Press pass suspended by the Trump administration ‘until further notice’ (November 8, 2018)
Press credentials ordered restored by District Judge Timothy Kelly (November 16, 2018)
He frequently engages in editorializing rather than asking questions. (Such as an exchange with Stephen Miller on immigration policy in which he quoted Emma Lazarus’ poem at the Statue of Liberty, then said, ‘What the President’s proposing here does not sound like it’s in keeping with American tradition when it comes to immigration.’)
Politco described him as ‘the reporter most likely to become part of the news story on any given day.’
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said, ‘He has become the personification of the anti-Trump movement, and that’s not the role of a White House reporter.’
Even some of his supporters concede that his aggressive questioning plays into the Trump administration’s ‘the mainstream news media is biased against us’ narrative.
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said his press pass had been revoked for putting ‘his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern.’
Video of the incident showed Acosta brushing the intern’s arm as she tried to take back the microphone he had been using and saying ‘Pardon me, ma’am.’
The White House tried to support its claims by circulating a video that had been doctored to make the incidental contact look more like a physical blow.
The video had been obtained from the noted conspiracy mongering website Inforwars.
Aide Kellyanne Conway defended the video with ‘That’s not altered. That’s sped up.’ (Anyone else believing that speeding up a tape does not alter it is invited to watch the Keystone Kops at normal speed.)
His habit of asking blunt questions did not start with Trump. (For example, he famously asked Barack Obama about the Islamic State, ‘Why can’t we take out these bastards?’)
