    Born in Charleston, West Virginia
    Assistant coach at Morningside High School (1963-69), Utah State University (1973-77), UCLA (1977-79) and Cal State-Northridge University
    Head coach for Morningside High School (1969-73), Pepperdine University (1979-88), UCLA (1988-96), University of Rhode Island (1997-99), University of Georgia (1999-2003) and the Bakersfield Jam (2006-07)

Why he might be annoying:

    His tenure at UCLA was overshadowed by scandals and controversies.
    The Georgia scandal got him blacklisted by the NCAA for a five year period.
    He tarnished his reputation at UCLA after it was revealed he falsified receipts at a recruitment dinner for student-athletes.
    He put the dinners for two of the recruits under the names of his wife and the wife of one of his assistant coaches.
    He was fired from the University of Georgia after it was revealed his son paid for the expenses of one of the team's players to give false grades in return.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He started his coaching career in the high school ranks and gradually worked his way up to the NCAA.
    He successfully recruited to UCLA, which was credited for the resurgence in the school's basketball program in the 1990's.
    He guided UCLA to a 31-1 record and a National Championship title (1995).
    He left UCLA as the second winningest coach in school history.
    He was part of a team that assisted in the growth of basketball in China, following his dismissal from Georgia.
