    He had to change his name before entering baseball to avoid being mistaken for Johan Santana.
    He only played four games in his first year in the major leagues.
    He had a dismal 2007 start with a 5-11 record and a 6.22 ERA.
    He was put on the disabled list in 2009 after posting a pathetic 8.39 ERA.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He shares the same surname as a famous Latin rock star.
    In just his second MLB game, he bested then Chicago White Sox pitcher Jon Garland by pitching a complete game shutout.
    He became the first pitcher in franchise history to pitch a shutout in a game to clinch the Western Division (September 28, 2009).
    During a game against the Cleveland Indians, he became the first pitcher in Angels history since 1990 to pitch a no-hitter (July 27, 2011).
    He also became the first Angels pitcher to do a no-hitter solo since 1984.
