The Resume

    (circa 70-circa 120)
    Born in Hippo Regius, Algeria
Full name was Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus
    Roman historian and biographer
Wrote 'The Twelve Casesars' (aka 'Lives of the Casears') about the Roman rulers from Julius Caesar to Domitian

Why he might be annoying:

    He trained as a lawyer.
His works other than 'The Twelve Caesars' are lost or exist only in fragments.
He was superstitious and carefully recorded omens allegedly predicting Imperial births and deaths.
He recorded a ton of gossip about the emperors, making him ancient Rome's Kitty Kelley.
He lost a job as secretary to the Emperor Hadrian for 'excessive familiarity' with the Empress.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was friends with Pliny the Younger, who described him as 'a most upright, honorable, and learned man.'
Despite his fondness for gossip, his 'Twelve Caesars' is still considered an important source on Roman history.
His interest in the emperors' personal lives and scandals does make for lively reading.
