Inventor

The Resume

    (July 8, 1831-August 16, 1888)
    Invented Coca-Cola (May 8, 1886)
Name Coca-Cola is derived from ingredients, the coca leaf and kola nut
Served in the civil war for the 3rd Georgia Cavalry Battalion

Why he might be annoying:

He invented 'Pemberton's French Wine Coca,' which was prescribed to patients with morphine addictions. The drink had coca leaf extracts of cocaine in it, an ingredient that he later used to invent the Coca-Cola beverage.
He was only able to sell an average of 9 glasses of soda per day.
Instead of handing the Coca-Cola company to his son, he sold it to Asa Griggs Candler for $2300 (1888).
    He was addicted to morphine.
He fought for the Confederacy as a lieutenant colonel in the Civil War, a fact that the Coca-Cola website conveniently fails to mention.
In the book 'Secret Formula,' the author says that according to the original Coca-Cola formula, each can would provide 'roughly 8½ milligrams of cocaine per drink (about the equivalent of ½ of a 'line' of cocaine...)'
He let his bookkeeper name his product Coca-Cola, which later became a problem when they attempted to remove the ingredients of the coca leaf to rid the drink of cocaine.
Cocaine was not completely removed from the beverage until the 1940's.
He had lousy business sense and when he died, he left his wife poor.
Coca Cola has little nutritional value yet is loaded with sugar and calories.

Why he might not be annoying:

He invented Coca-Cola in response to prohibition in Atlanta, when his French wine coca became illegal to sell (1886).
When he was 19 years old, he earned a pharmacy degree from the Southern Botanico Medical College of Georgia.
He became a morphine addict when it was fed to him during the Civil War for medicinal purposes.
He suffered from gastro intestinal problems.
His bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, created the famous Coca-Cola logo and spearheaded the early marketing of the beverage.
He created one of the largest and most recognizable corporations in the world.
His tombstone reads: 'Originator of Coca-Cola.'
On the day of his funeral, all the pharmacies in Atlanta closed (probably causing more people to die, but who cares?).
The red and white colors of Coca Cola were used to created the color scheme of Santa Claus.
