First Grand Inquisitor of Spain (1483-1498)
Presided over the murder of thousands of Spanish Jews

Why he might be annoying:

He led the Spanish Inquisition, a crusade against religions contrary to the Catholic faith.
He had a deep hatred against Jews, even though he was of Jewish ancestry.
He had thousands of innocent converted Jews burned, flogged, or subjected to other hideous ways of torture.
He was utterly ruthless, even burning the bones of accused Jews who had committed suicide to avoid being captured by him.
By the end of his reign of terror, nearly all of Spain's Jewish population was dead or exiled.
He was the 15th Century predecessor to Adolf Hitler.

Why he might not be annoying:

He started his life humbly as a Dominican priest.
He was a man of God (how ironic).
The Spanish Inquisition lost much of it's influence after his death.
He is dead.
He inspired the Monty Python 'No one expects the Spanish Inquisition,' catch phrase and skit.
He was mocked in song and parody in Mel Brook's 'History of the World, Part I'
