The Resume

    (October 4, 1961- )
    Born in Abilene, Texas
Birth name is David William Harper
Best known as Jim-Bob Walton in the TV movie, 'The Homecoming,' and the subsequent series The Waltons (1972-1981)
Also acted in 'Walking Tail,' 'Blue and the Grey,' 'Fletch,' and '3:15'

Why he might be annoying:

He spoke with an annoying drawl.
He did little after his stint with 'The Waltons' ended.
He has been confused with an art dealer of the same name.
He participated in a series of cheesy follow-up 'Waltons' holiday reunion movies.
Diehard Waltons fans have complained that he looks disinterested and noncommittal at reunion shows.
He was easily the scrawniest Walton kid on the show, who later put on a lot of weight.
His career was probably killed less by puberty than by the fact that he looked like a lanky teenager into his 20s.
Earl Hamner claimed that his first impression of Harper was that he needed a haircut (although it couldn't be worse than the bowl cut he ended up with).
He took part in an awkwardly staged meeting with his character's real life counterpart, in which among other things, his counterpart admitted to watching the show regularly and crying, prompting him to ask 'is it really that bad?'

Why he might not be annoying:

At least he didn't have the mole to worry about...
He doesn't mind fans identifying him as 'Jim-Bob' in public.
He is a Civil War buff whose hobbies include jigsaw puzzles, war-gaming, and Sumerian history.
Fans who have actually met him describe him as down-to-earth and personable.
He worked for 'Waltons' sibling Eric 'Ben' Scott as a truck driver at one point.
He spent an extended period of time taking care of his terminally ill father, until his death around 2010.
He admitted he probably wouldn't have wanted to live in an idealized family like the Waltons.
He is a Waltons fan favorite whose page is the most visited on the show's fansite.
He was ranked second in the Waltons Mountain fan site's most popular actors poll, second only to Will 'Grandpa Walton' Greer.
He also has a strange popularity among millennial fans prone to posting suggestive YouTube videos of Jim-Bob Walton shirtless with sexy music in the background...
He had a memorable cameo as a teenage car thief in the Chevy Chase cult-classic, 'Fletch,' priceless if only to hear Jim-Bob yell 'oh shit!' during the car chase scene (what would Grandma Esther say?!)
