    Spoof of soap operas
The series ended on a cliffhanger, where Jessica is about to be executed by a firing squad.
It was shown late at night, because the material was deemed inappropriate.
Three of the main characters committed murders, yet they are not considered antagonists.
Those murdered were members of their own family.
The dummy, Bob was treated like a living member of the family.
The plots got sillier and more unrealistic as the series progressed.
    Burt got kidnapped by aliens.
Corrine gave birth to a possessed baby.
It was the first show to have openly gay regular character.
Richard Mulligan, Dinah Manoff, and Ted Wass went on to other sitcoms ('Empty Nest' and 'Blossom').
Billy Crystal played a homosexual and was not typecast.
It spun off the successful 'Benson.'
In 'Benson' we find out that Jessica did die (her ghost visits Benson).
It launched the careers of many great actors.
