Why she might be annoying:

    Her father found her interest in a used exercise video strange.
    She was actually more interested in inspecting the video for mold than its subject.
    She stated that the discovery of the cash inside the video gave her 'chicken skin'.
    The circumstances regarding the placement of the cash inside the video cover were unknown.
    She received only a gift certificate from the Salvation Army as a reward for her actions.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She immediately told her mother about the discovered cash and insisted on turning it in to store management.
    Store manager Jimmy Thennes was so impressed with Mercier's honesty in reporting the money that he contacted the media regarding the incident.
    She was pleased to learn that the cash she discovered was placed in a Christmas fund for needy people.
    She received media attention and public admiration for her honest behavior at a young age.
    She was active in athletics and hula dance.
    Adopted and part Hawaiian, she chose to transfer from English speaking schools to a Hawaiian language immersion school.
