Why he might be annoying:

    He looks like a hobo with his scruffy beard.
    His trademarks are wearing a baseball cap backwards with a pencil tucked above his right ear.
    He never played a game in the NFL, opting to pursue a career in coaching after graduating.
    He turned down a lucrative job offer from the Westinghouse Electric Company to pursue a football coaching career full time.
    His coaching style initially came into question as he initially struggled to get the Lions veteran players to buy into his system.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He worked as an application engineer, prior to landing a coaching job at Syracuse University.
    Despite playing as an offensive lineman, he voluntarily made the switch to coaching on the defensive side, where he felt a greater emphasis of play was needed.
    He started on Bill Belichick's coaching staff as an offensive assistant, working his way up to the team's defensive coordinator position.
    He earned three Super Bowl rings as a member of the Patriots coaching staff (2004, 2014, 2016).
    He defeated Belichick's Patriots for his first victory as an NFL head coach (September 23, 2018).
