Why Glasgow, Scotland might be annoying:

    Its inhabitants are sometimes referred to as Weegies.
    The ‘Glasgow patter’ dialect is difficult for non-residents to decipher.
    The government of David Lloyd George sent 10,000 soldiers with tanks to suppress a general strike demanding a 40-hour work week (January 31, 1919)
    During the 1930s, its Gorbals slum was considered the most dangerous area in Britain due to rampant gang violence.
    A pile up on the exit stairs of Ibrox Stadium following a soccer match resulted in 66 deaths (January 2, 1971).
    It has some of the lowest voter turnout in the UK.
    It has the lowest life expectancy of any British city (72.9 years in 2005).

    At the end of the 19th century, it was producing half of Britain’s shipping and a quarter of the world’s locomotives.
    It set the European record for attendance at a soccer match: 149,547 at Hampden Park watched Scotland defeat England, 3-1 (1937).
    Although it is at about the same latitude as Moscow, its winters are usually mild due to the effect of the Gulf Stream.
    It has Britain’s best urban rail network outside of London.
    Lonely Planet named it one of the world’s top 10 tourist cities.
