Why he might be annoying:

He has a thick Southern accent.
He chews tobacco.
In addition to chewing tobacco, he always keeps a can of Copenhagen in his back pocket when on the mound, even though he usually only pitches one inning per game.
He had no idea who performed his Houston Astros theme song, Metallica's 'Enter Sandman,' when asked by Dan Patrick.
He complained about Houston's management being too cheap and not willing-enough to make moves that would help Houston advance themselves in the playoffs, which lead to him being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies (November 3, 2003).
A few months later, Houston wound up signing Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens (2004).
He missed out on the chance to close games for Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens.
He made $8 million dollars per year, typically just to pitch the 9th and final inning of a game.

Why he might not be annoying:

He could throw a fastball into the triple digits.
He was named to seven NL All Star teams.
He recorded 1,196 strikeouts and 422 saves.
Although he only stood at 5'10 and weighed 190 lbs., he was one of the most feared men in all of baseball.
