    Academy of Country Music award winner for Song of the Year (2007, 2009)
    Country Music Association award winner for Song of the Year (2007, 2009)

Why he might be annoying:

    His scruffy unkempt appearance makes him look like a vagrant.
    He became reclusive following both his divorce and the loss of his record contract.
    He dropped out of college after two years.
    He appeared on the short-lived 2007 FOX TV series 'Nashville.'
    He started his own record label, Big Gassed Records after he got into a dispute at Mercury Nashville in regards to the creative aspect of his albums.

    He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years.
    His first break in country music was as Gretchen Wilson's duet partner on one of her demo tapes.
    He wrote the singles 'Give It Away', which was recorded by George Strait and 'In Color', which he recorded.
    Both songs earned him both the ACM and CMA Awards for Song of the Year (2007, 2009).
    He sustained a concussion after he fell and slipped on a patch of ice (2010).
