Born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Served as Cambodia's King (1941-55), Prime Minister (1955-60), Head of State (1960-70,1975-76,1991-93), King again (1993-2004) and King-Father (2004-2012)
Directed the films 'My Village at Sunset' (1992), 'See Angkor and Die' (1993), 'Peasants in Distress' (1994) and 'An Ambition Reduced to Ashes' (1995)

Why he might be annoying:

He was an unabashed ladies' man, who was married seven times, often polygamously.
After a 'debate' with opposition leaders at the Royal Palace, the participants were dragged from their cars and beaten with rifle butts by his security forces (1957).
After he was overthrown by Lon Nol (1970), he allied himself with Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge.
Even after being restored to the throne (1991), he spent much of his time in China and North Korea, where he became good friends with fellow film buff Kim Jong-Il.

Why he might not be annoying:

He tried to keep Cambodia neutral during the Vietnam War.
His sixth wife and five of his children were murdered by the Khmer Rouge.
After visiting San Francisco, he said Cambodia should legalize same-sex marriages (2004).
He remained beloved by the Cambodian people over his many years in and out of power.
