Why she might be annoying:

She has a resemblance to Reba McEntire.
She has a sandwich named after her at a deli in her hometown of Great Neck, New York.
She has many endorsement deals.
She insists on wearing an old T-shirt of Peggy Fleming to bed the night before she skates.
She won her gold medal despite not being in first place going into the last skater (Irina Slutskaya).
Irina's loss prompted yet another protest by the Russians, as if the Salt Lake Olympics hadn't seen enough of them.
She never won the US Nationals or World gold medal.

Why she might not be annoying:

She appeared on the cover of Time Magazine's Olympic preview (February 11, 2002).
She was asked what her next goal was after winning the Gold medal, she said to get a 1600 (perfect score) on her S.A.T.s
She won her gold medal with a flawless performance after finishing fourth in the short program.
Her father also was the captain of his Cornell University hockey team.
She dedicated her exhibition skate to the victims of September 11th.
She wants to use her newfound celebrity to be an ambassador for peace.
She plans to study medicine in the future.
She is featured on a Wheaties' box (2002).
