Why he might be annoying:

    He was drafted three times, twice by the Cincinnati Reds, and refused to sign a contract with the team both times.
    He bounced around the minor leagues for three seasons before establishing himself during his fourth pro season.
    He received little media exposure as a result of playing for a poor Orioles team.
    Despite being born and raised in the United States, he played for the Greek national team at the Summer Olympics (2004).
    He is nicknamed 'Nick the Stick.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He played both pitcher and outfield while attending Young Harris College.
    He was considered the most highly coveted prospect in the Orioles system upon making his debut with the team.
    He is a fan favorite in Baltimore.
    He is one of the few players who was willing to play long-term with the Orioles under owner Peter Angelos.
    While most people focus on his Greek roots, he is also part German.
