Died of heart failure in Collierville, Tennessee at age 54

Why he might be annoying:

Moving from France to Tennessee was a bit of a cultural shock to him.
Before signing with the Expos in the 1978 draft, he was chosen by the New York Mets (1975), the St. Louis Cardinals (1976) and the Chicago White Sox (1977), turning each one of them down.
Arm and shoulder injuries left him unable to pitch for the entire 1985 and 1986 seasons.
The injuries forced him into early retirement at age 31.

Why he might not be annoying:

During his tenure with the Double-A Memphis Chicks in the Southern League (1978-80), he was a two-time All-Star and his final season saw him with a 9-0 record and a 0.84 ERA.
In 1981, he became the first French-born pitcher to throw a no-hitter in a MLB game.
In franchise history, he is one of only three pitchers to toss a no-hitter (the other two being Bill Stoneman and Dennis Martinez).
He was the starting pitcher for the National League in the 1984 All-Star Game and ended up as the winning pitcher of record for the 3-1 game which took place at the Giants Candlestick Park (July 10th).
Married and the father of two boys he died at the relatively young age of 54.
