Why he might be annoying:

He failed to live up to the hype as a Canuck coming out of junior.
He was a healthy scratch for Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series.
He signed over the hill players shortly after the lockout, which caused his team to finish in the bottom of the Western Conference.
He was demoted by the Blackhawks after it was revealed he made a clerical error while filing paperwork to sign his pending free agents qualifying offers.
Despite being an integral part of the Blackhawks resurgence in the late 2000's, his replacement Stan Bowman (son of Scotty) took the credit for the 2010 Stanley Cup championship team.
He didn't get his first general managerial position until the age of 55.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first player drafted in the history of the Vancouver Canucks.
He recorded a career high 62 points (1975-76).
He took full responsibility for the Hawks lackluster 2005-06 season, citing he was unaware with how to build a team around speed, skill and finesse.
He drafted franchise cornerstones Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews during his first couple years as the Hawks GM.
He turned both the Blackhawks and Panthers franchises from perennial laughingstock to contender in a matter of years.
He guided the Panthers to the franchise's first ever division title and playoff appearance in 10 years (2012).
