Why he might be annoying:

He was often credited with writing the song 'Pinetop's Boogie Woogie,' which was actually created by Clarence 'Pinetop' Smith in 1928.
He began as a guitarist, switching to piano after the tendons in his left arm were injured when a chorus girl stabbed him during an argument (1942).
Despite decades as a sideman, he did not record a solo album until he was into his 70s.
He said, 'I don't read music. It looks like dog droppings to me.'

Why he might not be annoying:

Alligator Records founder Bruce Iglauer said, 'He was a guy who put a huge amount of humor in his music. When you think of his blues, they make you smile.'
He was not seriously hurt when his car was struck by a train (2004).
He won the W.C. Handy/Blues Music Award for best piano player twelve consecutive years (1992-2003), after which the award was renamed the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year.
He established the Pinetop Perkins Foundation to support young blues musicians.
A month before his death, he became the oldest person to win a Grammy.
He explained his musical longevity with, 'I always try to do something different all the time.'
