Basketball Player

The Resume

    (April 20, 1971- )
    Born in Louisville, Kentucky
Played for the Detroit Pistons (1993-1996) and New York Knicks (1996-2005)
Played in college for the Tennessee Volunteers
    2-time NBA All-Star (2000, 2001)
    14,551 career points
    2,434 career rebounds
    1,990 career assists

Why he might be annoying:

In 2001, he signed a 6-year, $100 million contract extension with the Knicks.
This would turn out to be costly, as knee problems that started in the 2003-2004 season would force him to retire (October 17, 2005).
At the time that contract expired, he was the second highest-paid player in the NBA, burdening the Knicks for quite some time.
A rule was eventually named after him stating that a team can release a player and not have his contract count towards the team's luxury tax.
He tried to make a couple of comebacks, but he didn't end up playing a regular season game.

Why he might not be annoying:

In the first round of the 1999 NBA Playoffs, he hit a last-second shot that earned the Knicks a series victory over the top seeded Miami Heat, being only the second eighth-seeded NBA team to beat a top seed in the first round.
As of 2010, he is the all-time points leader at the University of Tennessee.
The Sporting News named him one of the 'Good Guys in Sports' several times over the course of his career for his work within the community.
    He has his own foundation.
He co-owns a clothing line which sells NBA-licensed products.
