TV Series
    (March 18, 1981-February 3, 1983)
    Aired on ABC
    Created by Stephen J. Cannell
    William Katt as Ralph Hinkley
    Robert Culp as Bill Maxwell
    Connie Sellecca as Pam Davidson
Theme song 'Believe It or Not' written by Mike Post
Premise: Aliens give a superhero suit to an English teacher; unfortunately, he loses the instructional manual and has to learn how to use the suit through trial and error
The theme song is better remembered than the show.
After John Hinckley, Jr., shot Ronald Reagan, Ralph's last name was changed to 'Hanley' for the rest of the first season.
Ralph had a son, Kevin, who disappeared without explanation during season two.
During a mere three seasons, Bill was kidnapped eight times, Pam six times.
The cast reunited for the pilot of a never broadcast spin-off, 'The Greatest American Heroine.' (1986)
The theme song reached #2 on the singles chart and was used as George Costanza's answering machine music in an episode of 'Seinfeld.'
Katt's real-life mother, Barbara Hale, portrayed Ralph's mother in a few episodes.
The symbol on the superhero suit was inspired by a pair of square-handled scissors on Cannell's desk.
Culp reprised his role as Bill Maxwell for a 'Robot Chicken' parody of the show.
