He injured himself during the Cubs 2015 NLDS, which would eventually cost them the NLCS (and make Back to the Future II's prediction inaccurate).
He has three children with three different women.
He was suspended by Major League Baseball after an investigation revealed he assaulted his wife in a domestic dispute (2018).
The charges played a factor in the Cubs decision to terminate his contract a year later.

He overcame extreme poverty as a child to make it to the majors.
He is of Filipino and African-American heritage, but legally changed his name after he was adopted by his Caucasian stepfather.
He was one of the first African-American players to play for the Cubs in a World Series.
He unselfishly gave up his number 22 to Jason Heyward, when the latter signed with the team.
He was the first player in 11 years to hit a grand slam during a World Series game (2016).
