Internet Website

The Resume

    Born in Kansas
    Posts odd news stories
Launched by Drew Curtis in 1999
Also hosts Totalfark.com, a premium version that contains all submitted links and extra features
Slogan is 'It's not news, it's FARK'

Why Fark.com might be annoying:

Its original content was a picture of a squirrel with exaggerated genitalia.
You have to pay $5 a month to use TotalFark.
It filters out swear words despite its suggestive name.
It has been accused of posting articles that promote a particular political point of view and favoring certain news sources.
One poster spelled lose 'loose,' declaring the correct spelling a pet peeve.
Many posters poke fun of and sometimes even advocate pedophilia, child abuse, and killing Christians.
When users complained about its 2007 redesign, an admin told users to 'get over it.'
When a link was posted to a teacher's extensive and OCD rules list on his website, some users harassed him by email and posted his contact info, causing the link to be removed.
One feature, FarkTV, has been widely criticized by its users but still stays up.
It has a rather unhealthy obsession with cats, Ric Romero, and Christopher Walken.

Why Fark.com might not be annoying:

It will not post links that require users to register for a website.
It contains pretty much every Internet meme on the web.
It introduced us to Allison Stokke.
You have to wait a day to post after registering, which keeps spammers and most trolls away.
Members can sponsor other users for TotalFark.com
It has separate sections for sports and entertainment news.
Many people consider it to be a better news source than most major news sites.
It features photoshop contests that have some of the best content on the internet.
Drew Curtis intensely dislikes Duke University.
It is one of the few places that exposes The Beatles, Bono and Elvis Presley as the overrated acts they really are.
People often criticize it because it doesn't feature hard-hitting news stories. (Did ya read the slogan people?)
