The Resume

    (September 16, 1965-April 5, 1974)
    Aired on NBC
Variety-comedy series hosted by Dean Martin
Renamed 'The Dean Martin Comedy Hour' for its last season
Theme song was 'Everybody Loves Somebody'

Why The Dean Martin Show might be annoying:

Martin was reluctant to host a TV show, so he made deliberately outrageous demands, notably a huge salary and the right to skip rehearsals and show up only for the actual taping of the shows.
When NBC agreed to his demands, Martin told his family, 'They went for it, so now I have to do it.'
Martin frequently did not even try to hide that he was reading his lines off cue cards.
Martin often left the studio for home before taping wrapped, usually not thanking his guests for appearing.

Why The Dean Martin Show might not be annoying:

Martin skipping rehearsals gave the show an air of spontaneity, such as the host being genuinely surprised by the appearance of a 'surprise guest.'
If Martin flubbed a line or forgot a song lyric, the mistake -- and his recovery from it -- would be broadcast.
Although he affected the persona of a lush, the old-fashioned glass that he carried usually only contained apple juice.
The popular 'Dean Martin Celebrity Roast' specials were spun off from a recurring bit in the last season.
