Took the famous picture of a running, naked 9-year-old Kim Phuc after her village was napalmed (June 8, 1972)
Photo won numerous awards, including a Pulitzer Prize and World Press Photo of the year
Why he might be annoying
His photo caused debate among AP brass over whether it could be released as it showed frontal nudity of a child.
PresidentNixon believed the photo was 'fixed' to add more shock value.
Exactly 35 years after the photo he took another famous pic - Paris Hilton crying in a car on her way to jail.
Why he might not be annoying
After he took his famed photo he helped Kim and her family get to a hospital.
His photo was distributed after New York photo editor, Hal Buell, agreed that the news value of the photograph overrode any reservations about nudity.
He became a citizen of the United States.
He has maintained a close friendship with Kim Phuc (see picture) and has traveled with her to seminars dealing with the consequences of war.
17 operations later Kim calls him Uncle Nick and during an audience told Queen Elizabeth 'He saved my life.'
