Why he might be annoying:

    His nickname during his playing career was 'Scrap Iron.'
    Following a 92-70 record in his rookie managerial season, the Brewers went 471-547 during the rest of his tenure with the team.
    He was fired by the Tigers six games into the 2002 season.
    Prior to managing the Astros, he had a reputation of being in the wrong situation at the wrong time.
    Many younger players don't embrace his gritty style of baseball.
    He was considered a journeyman player.

    He guided the Astros to their first World Series appearance.
    He was instrumental in the Astros second half surge which clinched the Wild Card spot after taking over at mid-season (2004).

    He recorded the 10,000th hit in Athletics history.
