Birth name was Hugh Milburn Stone
Film credits include ‘Gung Ho (1943)’ and ‘Jungle Woman (1943)’

Why he might be annoying:

Yes, you read that right — two R’s in ‘Burrton.’
He was sometimes referred to as ‘Milly.’
In high school, he was part of a barbershop quartet.
His niece Madge Blake, whom you might have seen on the 60s Batman, was actually five years older than he!
Blake had no problem using his influence to snatch parts.
He did not live to see his induction into the Western Performers Hall of Fame (Oklahoma City, 1981).

Why he might not be annoying:

He played on his high school basketball team and in the drama club.
He was a versatile actor, with appearances on Broadway and the circus scene.
Only one other cast member remained with Gunsmoke for its entire 20-year run (though a heart attack did sideline him for seven episodes).
He stood five foot eight (or about 1,73 m), nearly a full head shorter than James Arness.
Once the series ended, he wisely retired to his ranch.
He was widowed once and survived by his second wife, whom he remarried six years after their divorce.
