Why they might be annoying:

Epic Records advertised that they had 'the Mersey sound with the Liverpool Beat' even though they were from London.
Because 'Glad All Over' followed 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' at the top of the British charts, they were hyped as the group that dethroned the Beatles.
Those stomping drums made their hits sound similar.
British session drummer Bobby Graham claimed to have actually played on the groups' hits.
Although the band officially broke up in 1970, Clark and Smith continued recording as 'Dave Clark and Friends' until 1973.

Why they might not be annoying:

Clark originally put the band together to raise money to finance his rugby team's trip to Holland.
Clark managed and produced the band himself, negotiating a higher royalty rate than most bands of the era.
They were the first British band to have an American top ten hit after the Beatles.
They made 18 appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show, more than any other British Invasion group.
John Boorman made his feature-film debut directing the group's 'Having a Wild Weekend.' (1965)
Their compilation '25 Stomping Hits' topped the British charts during the height of the punk explosion (1977).
