Why he might be annoying:

Growing up, he frequently got into trouble for mimicking his teachers.
He was the original voice of Tony the Tiger, but was overshadowed by replacement Thurl Ravenscroft.
He usually sported a scruffy beard.
He said of a series of villains he played on TV Westerns, 'I specialized in barn burnings.'
An 'insane laugh' he created for a hyena character was recycled for the villain of the Crash Bandicoot series of video games.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Betty Warner, for 66 years.
He served with the Army Signal Corps during World War II.
His British accent was convincing enough that during dubbing for 'Mary Poppins' David Tomlinson asked, 'I say, old boy, what part of England do you come from?'
He was an expert on the history of the Oregon Trail and organized events for its 150th anniversary.
Actor Will Ryan said, 'There was something of the six-year-old in him no matter what his age was.'
