The Resume

Formed in 1969 as Fox in Mobile, Alabama
    Original line-up:
Jimmy Hall - lead vocals, harmonica, saxophone
Jack Hall - vocals, bass, banjo
    Ricky Hirsch - guitar
    John Anthony - keyboards
Lewis Ross - drums & percussion
Recorded 'Keep On Smilin',' 'Country Side Of Life,' 'Leona,' 'Everything That 'Cha Do (Will Come Back To You),' 'Street Corner Serenade' and 'Weekend'

Why they might be annoying:

The two women who provided the background singing were called 'The Williettes' (which consisted of Jimmy & Jack's sister Donna and whoever was available at the time).
Their 1971 debut album was called 'Wet Willie,' and their 1972 follow-up LP was titled 'Wet Willie II' (originality at its worst).
Though they haven't recorded as a complete band since 1979, they still perform occasionally as two bands.
Lead singer Jimmy Hall goes by the original Wet Willie title, while 1992 and beyond member Ric Seymour bills his version as The Wet Willie Band.

Why they might not be annoying:

A year after drummer Ross formed the band as Fox, they changed their moniker to Wet Willie, named after the prank of wetting one's finger and sticking it in another person's ear.
Their energetic blend of Southern rock earned them a huge following, especially in the South.
'Keep On Smilin' reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Singles chart in 1974.
They got better (and funnier) at naming their albums, recording such gems as the 1976 LP 'The Wetter the Better' and the 1979 LP 'Which One's Willie?'
They were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame (where they did most of their recording) in 1996, and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
