A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the
right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Why Amendment II - Go Ahead and Shoot Me might be annoying
It allows every American to own deadly weapons.
It gave birth to the NRA.
The NRA abuses this right, forgetting that the intent of weapons are for 'the security of a free state.'
Many are injured or killed by accidents or friendly fire.
Professor Sanford Levinson, in his paper 'The Embarrassing Second Amendment' said it 'suffers from a lack of serious scholarship.'
Gun-control advocates argue that this right is for a group not individuals.
It makes self-defense, the individual's responsibility.
Patrick Henry went as far as to inquire how to put guns into the hands of those that could not afford them.
Why Amendment II - Go Ahead and Shoot Me might not be annoying
It gave the people an ability to fight tyranny and even a corrupt government.
It allows people to protect and defend themselves.
As of 2007, the Supreme Court tended to avoid ruling on it, and has not heard a second amendment case in over 60 years.
At the time this right went into effect, it was widely accepted.
It allows all citizens to be part of the American militia.
