    Along with Ron Paul, he was one of the Congressmen who voted against bills that otherwise got unanimous support.
    He views himself as a libertarian.
    He drew a blank on live television while trying to explain the difference between the economic plans of George W. Bush and John McCain.
    He had an affair with Maria Belen Chapur.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He opposed his state’s faith based license plates saying ‘The largest proclamation of one's faith ought to be in how one lives his life.'
    He was an Eagle Scout.
    Despite his affair, voters in South Carolina's 1st congressional district voted him into the House of Representives in a special election (May 7, 2013).
