Drafted 41st overall by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft
Center for the Quebec Nordiques (1980-87), Washington Capitals (1987-99) and the Colorado Avalanche (1999)
Head coach of the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights (2002-11) and the Washington Capitals (2011-12)

Why he might be annoying:

He was considered a dirty player.
He earned a 21 game suspension after viciously cross-checking Pierre Turgeon into the boards during a playoff game (1993).
The Nordiques traded him to Washington for a draft pick that ended up being franchise cornerstone Joe Sakic.
He is the only one of his brothers who never won a Stanley Cup during his playing career.
He ranked second in career penalty minutes at the time of his retirement.
It is speculated that he allegedly told his players to focus on the team's historical season instead of their academics (2004-05).
He's been suspended numerous times for sending players off the bench to participate in fights.
He was arrested for driving while intoxicated (July 2006).

Why he might not be annoying:

Despite his reputation as a scrapper, he was known to be a class act in the locker room.
He was a fan favorite in both Quebec and Washington.
He is the third player in Capitals history to have his number retired by the team.
He guided the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance in franchise history.
He and his brother Mark purchased the London Knights and quickly returned the franchise back to respectability.
He guided the Knights to the best record in the Canadian Hockey League, along with a Memorial Cup title (2004-05).
