(1983), 'Modern Lovers 88' (1988), 'Jonathan Sings Country' (1990), 'Having a Party with Jonathan Richman' (1991), 'I, Jonathan' (1992), 'Surrender to Jonathan' (1996) and 'Not So Much to Be Loved as to Love' (2005)
Wrote the two-chord 'Roadrunner'

Why he might be annoying:

He was obsessed with the Velvet Underground, and spent several weeks crashing on the couch of their manager while trying to break into the music business.
The original Modern Lovers broke up before the release of their first album.
His lyrics are self-consciously naive and childlike.
He recorded an album with glockenspiel as a principal instrument.

Original Modern Lovers Jerry Harrison joined Talking Heads and David Robinson joined the Cars.
The first Modern Lovers album influenced punk rock while his later records set the tone for quirky college rock acts like They Might Be Giants and Weezer.
He has a cult following.
He appeared in 'There's Something About Mary' as a troubadour commenting on the action.
