He is cantankerous.
He was bitter both on screen and in real life.
Despite his flamboyant behavior, he denied being gay.
He was an alcoholic.
His belligerence cost him his job on 'Hollywood Squares,' although he claimed it was over a salary dispute.
He smoked.
His cause of death was from an overdose of a sex drug he used while having sex with a male prostitute.
Although obviously gay, he was closeted until he died.
