    Born in Brooklyn, New York
    Writer and illustrator for ‘Mad’ magazine (1962-2012)
    Also contributed cartoons to ‘Playboy,’ ‘Look’ and ‘The Saturday Evening Post’

Why he might be annoying:

    He went uncredited for his earliest work at ‘Mad,’ coming up with gags for Don Martin to illustrate.
    His signature was usually accompanied by a small picture of a duck.
    He put duck calls on his answering machine.
    He and Paul Coker, Jr., created a short-lived comic strip, ‘Horace and Buggy,’ about ‘smart-ass insects.’ (1972)

Why he might not be annoying:

    He wrote and illustrated 17 Mad paperback books.
    He became the main writer for ‘Spy vs. Spy’ after creator Antonio Prohias retired.
    He replaced Don Martin as Mad’s leading one-page gag cartoonist.
    National Cartoonist Society president Tom Richmond called him ‘the most unsung hero in the history of Mad.’
