Why they might be annoying:

A…ga…doo…doo…doo… (It wasn’t even an original version! And it was redone in 2009, no less!)
Routh left the band when he was found to be in an affair with a minor.
‘Spitting Image’ immortalized them with ‘The Chicken Song’ (‘those two wet gits with their girly curly hair’; also see Ted Koppel’s profile picture).
Barton died in his early 40s in a tour bus crash with another band (a lookalike / soundalike took his place).
They rewrote Agadoo as ‘Have a Screw’… complete with dirty-minded lyrics!

Why they might not be annoying:

Their brazenness was a sign they actually felt they were on to something.
Their redoing of ‘Agadoo’ included a shaking of the tree that its French-language counterparts didn’t have (‘push the pineapple, grind coffee’).
They raised over £25.000 for cancer research by playing 20 shows in a single day throughout England (1997); the event was dubbed ‘Agadoo Day.’
Despite the seemingly endless breakups and revolving doors, with Routh being the only remaining active member, they held strong after 40 years.
While it was mainly about his own life and times, Terry Dobson titled his autobiography in honor of their signature song: ‘And then Came Agadoo.’
