Why they might be annoying:

Throat singing, which produces two or three notes simultaneously, is often described as 'eerie.'
One of their percussion instruments is a xapchyk, a dried bull scrotum containing sheep kneebones.
Some fans felt they sold out by incorporating Western instruments on their later albums.

Why they might not be annoying:

The Chicago Tribune described their music as 'unfamiliar yet very accessible, an other-worldly but deeply spiritual music.'
Their vocals often imitate natural sounds, with their songs serving as literal representations of the Tuvan landscape.
They have performed with Frank Zappa, Ry Cooder and the Chieftans.
