Why Amsterdam, Netherlands might be annoying:

Prostitutes can often be seen sitting half-naked in window shops.
The Nazis occupied the city on May 15, 1940 and deported thousands of Jews (among them Anne Frank).
Many tourists come here to see the red light district, which sadly overshadows the city's more important cultural areas.
It is below sea level.
There are more bikes than cars.

Why Amsterdam, Netherlands might not be annoying:

It has one of the largest Renaissance city centers in Europe.
The Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House are located here.Prostitutes who work in Amsterdam are legal, tax-paying employees.
Contrary to popular belief, marijuana is not legal, it is simply regulated.
During the 14th and 15th centuries, persecuted people from all over Europe sought refuge here, and it's still considered a tolerant city to this day.
It was the most important port in the world during the 17th century.
Until World War II, it used to be a major center for the diamond industry.
Because of its tolerant policies, it used to be a popular destination for hippies during the 60's and 70's.
It hosted the 1928 Olympics.
Overall, it is an extremely eclectic city.
