Biblical Character

The Resume

    (circa 1300 BC- )
    Born in Mount Sinai, Egypt
    #3 of the Ten Commandments
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain

Why Commandment 3: No blasphemy! might be annoying:

The first 3 commandments are all about God, what about us?
Obviously God is not into self deprecating humor.
Talk about being a control freak.
Roman Catholics count this as the 2nd commandment. God never heard 'sticks and stones will break my bones but names will not harm me.'

Why Commandment 3: No blasphemy! might not be annoying:

It is okay to say nice things about God.
This was to deter pagans using the name of God when casting magic spells.
It is a commandment breaker if one swears to tell the truth in God's name and doesn't.
