    Major league strikeout leader (1990, 91, 92)
Retired as the 18 best strikeout pitcher (2668 Strikeouts)
Held the NL record of 19 strikeouts in a game (vs. Philadelphia Phillies - September 10, 1991)

Why he might be annoying:

In 1990, he argued with the umpire over a play at first without calling a time out. His brain freeze allowed two Braves to score as he argued.
Three women filed a sexual harassment lawsuit claiming he exposed his penis to them while in the Shea Bullpen (1989, Filed: March 27, 1992).
He was accused of rape in Philadelphia (September 1991).
Along with Met teammates Daryl Boston, Vince Coleman and Dwight Gooden, he was part of a rape investigation (March 1992).
During a 1986 Spring training game, his manager, Dick Howser, ordered him to throw at Russ Morman, instead he threw the ball into fence. The umpire kicked him out of the game and because the Royals were out of pitchers, the game came to an abrupt end.
Because of his name, many thought he was Jewish. In fact some Jewish press misspelled his name as David Cohen.
He is a players union rep, testifying before Congress to justify the Antitrust Exemption (January 1995). He favored the players strike.
He was the first reigning Cy Young award winner to be traded. The Royals could not afford his salary.
He lost his no hitter bid with one out in the ninth inning (vs the Texas Rangers, June 1995).
His 147th pitch of the fifth and deciding divisional championship game versus the Mariners walked in the tying run. The Yankees eventually lost in the eleventh and ended their season (1995).
After pitching his 1999 perfect game, his career plummeted. The next year he won 4 games and lost 14.

Why he might not be annoying:

He became known as a hired gun, where teams vying for the playoffs would trade for him to help them make the playoffs and for post season play.
He was traded to the New York Mets for catcher Ed Hearn. This would later be called 'The worst trade in Royals' history' by owner Ewing Kaufmann.
He enjoyed being with the fans, and could be seen sitting in the bleachers with Yankee fans.
His fans are called Coneheads, and often times wear the ridiculous conehead hats.
Yankee fans hung pictures of ice cream cones to represent his strikeouts during a game.
On occasion, as a joke, he would leave tickets for Vanna White, Elvis Presley and skier Picabo Street (they never showed).
He appeared in a Saturday Night Live skit with Derek Jeter and David Wells wearing a dress.
Five times he finished in the top ten for the Cy Young Award and won it once.
He was a craftsman with an arsenal of many pitches. Even when his pitches weren't working, somehow he had the ability to keep the opposition from scoring many runs.
He played for the Kansas City Royals, New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays, twice.
Not only did he return after a blood clot (May 2-September 1, 1996), but pitched seven no-hit innings vs the Oakland A's. He was not allowed to complete the game, because manager Joe Torre worried about his fragile arm (September 2, 1996).
His perfect game was pitched on Yogi Berra Day. Before that, Yogi had not been back to Yankee stadium for 14 years due to a feud with George Steinbrenner (July 18, 1999). It was also his manager Joe Torre's 59th birthday.
Perfect game pitcher Don Larsen was in attendance when he pitched his perfect game.
He was the sixteenth pitcher to pitch a perfect game, third Yankee and second against an opposing league's team.
He won the first Yankee world series game in over 15 years (1996). It started the Yankees on a 14 World Series game win streak (1996-2000).
