Louis C.K. as Louie
Written, produced, directed, and edited by Louis C.K.
Premise: A depressed New York City comedian struggles to balance his personal and professional life
Why Louie (TV) might be annoying
It ripped off 'Curb Your Enthusiasm!'
In other words, its another comedy about with the real-life star playing himself.
The last time Louis C.K. had a similar series on HBO, 'TIME' magazine panned it as the worst television series of 2006.
The show highly relies on cameos of other actors.
Louie C.K. explained, 'Every episode has its own goal, and if it messes up the goal of another episode, [...] I just don't care.'
The pilot episode dealt with issues including divorce, sex, depression, sexual orientation, and Catholic guilt.
Why Louie (TV) might not be annoying
In order to retain creative control over the show, he agreed to a $200,000 offer with FX for the first season.
Not only does he act, but he wrote, filmed, and edited almost every episode.
Some liken the show to a Larry David and Woody Allen film.
Some of storylines are loosely based off of his own real life experiences.
Unlike 'Lucky Louie,' this series was greatly praised by television critics, including Emmy nominations during its freshman season.
