Why he might be annoying:

His nickname was ‘the original cranker’ (for his then-unorthodox throwing style).
There was an eight-year drought between his 33rd PBA title and his final one (1987-95).
He opened a bowling center named after himself that closed after six months (2002).

Why he might not be annoying:

At the time of his death, he still held the record for most PBA titles in a season (8 in 1978).
He was the first bowler to convert a 7-10 split in a televised game (January 5, 1980).
He followed Earl Anthony as the second pro bowler with $1,000,000 in career winnings (1984).
He was also inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (2014).
