Created and spoke 'Deep Thoughts,' a filler piece between sketches (1991-98)
Created the 'Toonces, the Cat Who Could Drive a Car' sketches (1992)
Wrote the books 'Deep Toughts' (1992), 'Deeper Thoughts: All New All Crispy' (1993), 'Deepest Thoughts: So Deep They Squeak' (1994), 'Fuzzy Memories' (1996), 'Lost Deep Thoughts: Don't Fight The Deepness' (1998) and 'What I'd Say To The Martians: And Other Veiled Threats' (2008)
Contributor of short pieces to 'The New Yorker' magazine (2005-07)

Why he might be annoying:

Some people still believe he's a made-up character and not a real person.
He lost his first job with a San Antonio newspaper for writing 'an article that offended local car dealerships.'
He was a writer for NBC's very short lived (five shows) TV sketch series 'The New Show.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He wrote his first 'Deep Thoughts' in 1984 for 'National Lampoon' magazine (some thinking Jack Handey was a pen name).
In 1986 he contributed to Michael Nesmith's cult movie 'Doctor Duck's Super Secret All-Purpose Sauce.'
Kurt Cobain read one of his ‘Deep Thoughts’ in the Nirvana song 'I Hate Myself and Want to Die.'
Though his face was never seen his 'Deep Thoughts' achieved unexpected popularity.
He (good-naturedly) has included his wife Marta in some of his 'Deep Thoughts.'
