Why he might be annoying:

He is a tough nut to crack.
His outfit consists of spats, a cane, a monocle, top hat and white gloves.
A contest was held to design the logo for Planters Peanuts, the prize was $5. A graphic artist eventually added a monocle, gloves and top hat to the peanut that just had arms and legs.

Why he might not be annoying:

'The Simpsons' did a parody of Mr. Peanut in their Thanksgiving Day parade and their Halloween episode.
George Washington Carver could find 500 uses for him.
