Despite his possible non-existence, his name has been legend for centuries.
If he was real, his magic was far superior to that of modern magicians.
He was born poor and fatherless, orphaned early, and still worked for four different kings.
He never met his father.
His mother died when he was young.
Many movies are made starring him.
He has been portrayed by Ian Abercrombie, Sam Neill, Rene Auberjonois, Jason Connery, Stephen Dillane, Felix Aylmer, and Malcom McDowell.
