    Born in Akron, Ohio
    Directed the documentary 'Woodstock' (1970) and the horror film 'Wolfen' (1981)
    In his pre-Woodstock career as a cinematographer, he was billed as Mike 'Wadley.'
    He was physically kicked offstage by Pete Townshend at the start of the Who's Woodstock set.
    He was sued by some of the people in 'Woodstock' (such as the man interviewed while cleaning the Port-O-San latrines) for invasion of privacy.
    As of 2009, he has directed only one film since 'Woodstock.'
    'Woodstock' was known for its innovative multi-panel presentation that showed, for example, the band playing and the crowd reaction shot at the same time.
    'Woodstock' cost $600,000 to make and grossed over $50 million.
    'Woodstock' won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.
